Facilities to love at Seaton

As our Seaton dreams come to life, we’re flooded with visions of what our residents will get more people moving in, we thought the month of love was the perfect opportunity to share the facilities we know our Seaton family will fall in love with.

Our Clubhouse

As the heart of any residential estate, our clubhouse will provide a central gathering place for residents to socialise, dine, and enjoy recreational activities. Seaton’s clubhouse will offer pools, dining and even a kids’ area to offer something for every member of the family.

Cricket oval

Our cricket oval is taking shape and soon we’ll be enjoying matches at Seaton in the glorious North Coast sunshine! With family at the very heart of the Seaton offering, we can’t wait to see families making use of this facility and loads of little ones growing up to love cricket.

Equestrian Facilities

For those who love riding, our equestrian facilities will provide a scenic and unique offering within the estate for a taste of country living. From stables to a fibre track arena, residents will be able to stable their horses and beginners can even enjoy riding lessons.

Walking and Cycling Trails

For those who love staying fit and healthy, our scenic walking and cycling trails will wind through the estate, making the most of our gorgeous surroundings. This will allow residents to enjoy outdoor exercise, connect with nature, and explore the magic of Seaton.

Direct beach access

What would coastal living be without the beach? Luckily at Seaton, our residents will enjoy direct beach access to some of the North Coast’s most celebrated beaches. With warmer weather and clean water all year round, the time (and temperature) are always right for a beach day. Plus, how many can count Christmas Bay as their neighbour?

State-of-the-art Security

Phase 1 of our Gatehouse is underway. This will be the foundation of our iconic Gatehouse that will offer more than just unrivalled security. This land art form will take its cues from nature and the magnificent north coast, allowing for seamless and beautiful access to the estate we love.

Reciprocal access to Zululami

Although Seaton is set to offer a world of facilities, reciprocal access to our neighbouring Zululami Luxury Coastal estate allows residents to enjoy even more. This includes additional clubhouses, multisport facilities, and bird hides, to name a few.

To see how our estate is coming along, why not arrange a private tour aboard our 4X4 game viewer? Not only will you get to see the progress firsthand, but this is the perfect way to enjoy the spoils of the North Coast. We hope we’ll get to show you around soon…

Unveiling the Seaton Estate Gatehouse: A Tapestry of Innovation and Elegance

In the picturesque coastal enclave of Sheffield Beach, KwaZulu-Natal, a new landmark is taking shape—the Seaton Estate gatehouse. A testament to architectural innovation and meticulous design, this project by Collins Residential promises to redefine the concept of estate entrances. As we delve into the details, we embark on a journey through the thoughtful integration of form and function, ultimately culminating in a structure that not only stands as a symbol of architectural prowess but also represents a visionary investment in the future.

Phase 1 Unveiled at Seaton Estate:

The construction of the Seaton Estate gatehouse is well underway, with Phase 1 set to be completed by August 2024. Collins Residential, the driving force behind this project, has embarked on a venture that goes beyond the conventional. This initial phase marks the beginning of a transformative addition to the Sheffield Beach skyline—a gatehouse that seamlessly blends with the natural landscape while capturing the distinctive character of Seaton Estate.

Designing Beyond Boundaries:

At the helm of this architectural marvel is Brent Buchanan from Nsika Architecture & Design. Buchanan’s vision for the Seaton gatehouse is revolutionary; departing from the typical imposing and bulky structures of estate entrances, he envisions a design that resembles a connected ribbon. The aim is not just to create a gatehouse but to craft a piece of art that harmonizes with the surroundings.

Bridging Art and Functionality:

Central to the gatehouse design is a land-art bridge, a striking feature inspired by similar structures in Europe that facilitate the movement of wildlife across busy roadways. In this context, the bridge serves a dual purpose—it allows people to move through, over, and within it. The upper level of the bridge becomes a pathway connecting different precincts, offering pedestrians, cyclists, and even horses a unique and visually stunning route through the estate.

Buchanan’s departure from the traditional style of estate entrances is intentional. The Seaton gatehouse is not merely a static structure but a dynamic piece of architecture that fosters connectivity. It functions as more than a gateway—it weaves together a unified system of roads and walkways, emphasizing functionality without compromising on aesthetics.

Symbolism and Purpose at Seaton Estate:

Beyond its physical attributes, the Seaton Estate gatehouse carries profound symbolism. With over 1,400 homes planned for the expansive Seaton development, this structure represents not only a commitment to architectural excellence but also a forward-looking investment in the future. The careful fusion of landscape and design is a testament to the essence of Seaton’s exceptional location. It stands as a landmark structure that elevates the allure of the North Coast, ensuring a future that is both sustainable and inspiring.

Crafting a Sustainable Future:

The Seaton Estate gatehouse is more than a gateway; it is a statement about the evolving landscape of modern architecture and its intersection with environmental consciousness. The integration of landscape and design speaks volumes about the commitment to sustainability. By seamlessly blending with the natural surroundings, the gatehouse becomes a part of the ecosystem, embodying a balance between human intervention and environmental harmony.

Embracing Tomorrow:

As the larger Seaton development takes shape, the gatehouse emerges as a cornerstone, embodying the principles of responsible development. It serves as a model for future projects, showcasing the possibility of creating spaces that not only meet the needs of a growing community but also contribute to the preservation of the natural beauty that defines the North Coast.

In the heart of Sheffield Beach, the Seaton Estate gatehouse is not just a construction project; it is a narrative unfolding—a story of innovation, integration, and a commitment to a sustainable future. As Phase 1 progresses towards completion, we eagerly anticipate the unveiling of this architectural masterpiece, a ribbon-like structure that connects past, present, and future. The Seaton Estate gatehouse is poised to become more than an entrance; it is destined to be an enduring symbol of the harmonious coexistence of human ingenuity and the natural world.

What Club Med Tinley means for the North Coast of KZN

“I think this is going to be catalytic for the North Coast and even for Southern Africa. That’s how big they think it will be.” – Murray Collins (Collins Residential, Developer of Club Med Tinley).

If that quote alone doesn’t hint at the phenomenal impact that the new Club Med Tinley is set to have on the North Coast of KZN, then we don’t quite know what does. Here’s what the presence of an iconic brand like Club Med means for our piece of paradise…

Greater property values

When a global giant like Club Med gives the North Coast two thumbs up and agrees to two resorts in our backyard, this can only bode well for the value of the properties owned here. It’s why those considering a home on KZN’s prized North Coast had better act now and those who are already lucky enough to own here had best hold onto their investments…

Job creation

With two resorts on the way and set to be one of the larger hospitality projects in South Africa, Club Med Tinley is expected to generate over 800 direct jobs and an additional 1 500 indirect jobs, invigorating the local economy and empowering individuals and families with newfound opportunities. During its construction phase, the project will also employ 1 200 construction workers, providing a significant boost to the job market within our region, something that makes us very happy.

Placing the North Coast on a global stage

“Everyone is going to know the names Ballito, North Coast, Sheffield Beach and Tinley Manor.” Geoff Perkins (Collins Residential)

Whilst we’ve always known how special our piece of the world is, it’s wonderful to have it chosen by the team at Club Med to play home to not one, but two incredible resorts. We have no doubts that this will further propel the North Coast and all it has to offer to even greater heights prompting even more international investment on our shores. It’ll also drive tourism, bringing more visitors from across the globe and even encourage fellow South Africans to explore their own country and the #LoveNorthCoast

House Lambie: October 2023 Update

It’s hard to believe that October is already here. For the Lambies, it’s been full steam ahead in their pursuit of bringing their dream home to life. It’s clear that the team at KR Projects and their chosen providers are on track and ready to end 2023 on a high. We sat down with Pat and Kate to find out where they’re at. Here’s what they shared with us.

Concrete for the first floor slab was poured

“At the end of July, we reached a pretty big milestone. The first floor slab’s concrete was poured… 68.5 cubes of concrete to be exact. This level now serves as the ceiling to our kitchen/dining/lounge below, and the floor to our bedrooms. This was the perfect platform to take our bricks up to roof height. Red, blue and white pipes were laid for gas, plumbing and electrical, which now sit inside that concrete slab, all held together by just over 5 tons of steel reinforcing.”

Roof sheeting and ceilings were decided on

“After chatting to our team, we decided that an aluminium roof sheet would better protect against corrosion in an environment like ours that’s close to the sea. The colour we chose was as per our renders… a light grey. We also decided that some of the bedroom ceilings would have exposed trusses. Kate likes a clean white look and Karl (builder) and Greg (supplier from Seacon roofing) are in support!”

First fix positions

“We met with Greg and Marius from C&C Plumbing Solutions to finalize the positions of our tap mixers, shower roses, toilets and basins. Once the roof goes on, C&C will install all the in-wall fixtures for our sanware i.e.. the cistern’s, pipes & mixers that are concealed within the brickwork.”

Interior dreaming

“It was time for some details so we met with the team at Hannah + Holl, who have been amazing in helping us piece together our interior design elements. Measurements down to the last centimetre of our kitchen, scullery and bar area have all been taken. This detail was then plugged into the 3D computer model Jess has built for House Lambie, allowing us to understand the feel of our internal spaces. Head to Instagram for a look at the video.”

The roof is ON!

“Our target date for the roof being on House Lambie was October. Knowing how the building process can go, we’re delighted to say we met our goal! A roof on our home makes everything seem so much closer and we look forward to adding even more details to our home now that we’ve got a roof over our heads…”

Pool progress

“We are officially under way with our swimming pool. It has been dug out, will be built up with concrete, and then finished with marbelite. Water will only go in once the grass is laid in the new year but it’s been amazing to see the outdoor portion of House Lambie coming to life as well. We know we’ll be spending loads of time in our pool with the boys.”

Club Med Tinley is on the way…

As a proudly Collins Residential development and an even prouder part of the #LoveNorthCoast, we’re excited to share that our part of the world will soon be home to the first Club Med Resort in the country!

Meet Club Med Tinley, an investment of over R2 billion, that’s set to offer a distinctive combination of both beach and safari experiences. This ground-breaking development is a result of a collaborative partnership between the esteemed operators, Club Med, and the Collins Residential Consortium, the developers. As the first of its kind in the country, this all-inclusive resort is poised to make contributions to the region, ushering in opportunities for job creation and sustainable growth.

Club Med Tinley represents a great step forward in the hospitality industry, serving as one of the larger hospitality projects in South Africa. It is anticipated to generate over 800 direct jobs and an additional 1,500 indirect jobs, invigorating the local economy and empowering individuals and families with newfound opportunities. During its realisation, the project will also employ 1,200 construction workers, providing a significant boost to the job market in the region.

The construction period is estimated to be 28 months, commencing in early 2024, with the resort opening scheduled around July 2026. The resort will be green at heart, starting with the eco-certifying of the construction of all its new Resorts with BREEAM or their local equivalent. BREEAM is one of the most recognised international and independent eco-construction certifications in the world. In South Africa, the aim is to achieve a 4-star rating from the Green Building Council of SA (GBCSA) for this development.

Where operations are concerned, Club Med Tinley will adhere to Green Globe standards: an international and independent sustainable tourism certification. This standard rewards establishments in the tourism sector that are committed to improving the environmental and social management of their activity in 4 fields: sustainable management, economic/social, cultural heritage and the environment. 100% of Club Med resorts are Green Globe Certified.

Sustainability is a key consideration to Club Med and this project embraces environmental stewardship by spearheading the “Bye Bye Plastics” movement, which looks at progressively cutting the usage of plastic water bottles and single-use plastics in resorts, a commitment already successfully implemented in the brand’s resorts around the world. Echoing this, another eco-commitment by Club Med aims to achieve food waste reduction across all resorts by 2030.

A notable aspect of this project is the collaboration between Club Med and Agrisud, a distinguished non-profit organisation. Together, they are committed to fostering the growth and development of local businesses within the resort’s supply chain, thereby driving inclusive growth within the community and nurturing sustainable livelihoods.

Greater Ballito set for massive economic boost

The greater Ballito area is doing justice to its status as one of the fastest growing economic zones in the country.

This outlook emerged from the Business@Breakfast meeting, a collaboration between the iLembe Chamber of Commerce, The Robert Group and The North Coast Courier, held at Sheffield’s Manor House last Friday. The purpose of the get-together was to highlight iLembe’s current and future economic development outlook.

Speakers included Pat Lambie from the Collins Group, Kevin Swart from North Point Ballito, Ballito Farmers Market co-founder Kyle Pretorius and Carol Church from Love North Coast.

Details were shared on several existing and upcoming developments and investments, which among others include a high school, a new retail shopping centre and a plastic recycling company.

Highlights included:

• Real estate: Lambie highlighted coastal estates such as Zululami Luxury Coastal Estate and Seaton Estate, accounting for a staggering R1.420-billion in investments to date. Combined, these estates offer more than 2 500 homes and sectional title units.

• Road enhancements: Lambie also detailed several past and present infrastructure upgrades to roads undertaken by the Collins Group.

One of these include upcoming upgrades to the P330/474 (Brettenwood and All Souls Anglican Church) intersection where two slip lanes are to be built and traffic lights installed at a cost of R6.9-million to alleviate traffic pressure. This project should be completed by the middle of next year.

Further roadworks include the construction of an interchange on the N2 just north of Tiffany’s Shopping Centre, scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.

• Retail and education: Feasibility studies relating to a new retail shopping centre indicate that it could potentially be the size of a regional shopping mall to accommodate the additional households.

The Collins Group has also appointed a task team to finalise plans to build a new high school with space for around 1 000 pupils. This is well underway and could potentially open as soon as 2025.

• Industrial and commercial growth: Swart introduced the 380 000sqm North Point Ballito business park located between the N2 and R102. Although primarily a business park, it includes a residential component, Bliss Ballito, with 114 units underway and an anticipated completion date of May next year.

More than R100-million had been spent on upgrades and developer contributions to date.

Most notably, Alpla, an Austrian family-owned plastics recycling and manufacturing company, is also setting up a plant at North Point Ballito.

The first phase of this development, with investment of R1-billion, is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2024.

The plant will create an estimated 150-200 direct permanent new jobs and 10 000-15 000 indirect jobs in the province.

Alpla has more than 23 000 employees across the globe, including 190 production facilities in 46 countries, boasting a turnover of €5.1-billion in 2022.
